An adventure club for girls that empowers them to build strong bodies and minds together.
Our Focus
The goal of the Junior Jewels Girls Adventure Club is to develop strong, resilient and capable female leaders that are ready for any challenge. To help guide programming we are implementing the Junior Duke of Edinburgh Program Junior Duke by Capable Kids. This is a life skills Award made up of nine different levels which offers children aged 5 to 13 the opportunity to try different experiences to increase their confidence, independence and resilience.
As we continue to grow, the group will offer the full Duke of Edinburgh program starting in 2025 for girls 14+. The Duke of Edinburgh Award
As many girls are involved in multiple activities the program is designed to give girls the option to choose the activities that work for their schedule.
Our Leader
Kate MacLellan (Jewel) is the founder and head of the program. She is passionate, dedicated and enthusiastic about giving kids opportunities to develop skills and watching them shine as the best versions of themselves. With many years of camp experience as well as previous involvement with Girl Guides of Canada, she brings her skills and experience to creating a new program with more flexibility, variety and options for more adventure based activities. Kate works as a developmental pediatrician at the Alberta Children's Hospital. She has an up to date police record check with vulnerable persons search. She is also an active National Lifeguard and has her Paddle Canada flat water instructor course.
